Key Responsibilities
? Demonstrates complete knowledge of HSE laws, policies and procedures
? Ensures that the demands of the organisation are consistently met within the established contractual standards of quality, cost and delivery date.
? Knows, understands and applies plant operating procedures as stated in the standard operating procedure manuals.
? Co-ordinates the day to day functioning of Operation workgroup through the Sr. Production Supervisors to ensure the Plant is operated safely, reliably and efficiently.
? Reviews daily logs / instruction books and provides guidance to ensure the plant is operated in safe, reliable and efficient manner.
? Evaluates plant performance trends to improve efficiency, reliability and effectiveness of process conditions and operating techniques to reduce safety hazard and minimize production costs.
? Monitors plant operating trends to determine and predict the development of abnormal conditions.
? Actively seeks new ways to improve and sustain plant performance.
? Reviews changes in technology and its application to plant operations.
? Responsible for amendment of operating procedures and emergency procedures as the need arises. This includes new procedures for any alterations on the Plant or any major modifications.
? Ensures that the Plant is maintained in a proper manner by:
1) Assigning service requests in priority to equipment needs.
2) Following up with Maintenance to ensure that work is carried out on equipment in a timely manner.
3) Ensuring that equipment is handed over to Maintenance in a safe condition and in accordance with the Company’s Permit to Work system.
4) Ensuring routine checks are conducted/documented on plant equipment and follow up is carried out to ensure that all standby equipment is operable.
5) Ensuring that all plant and equipment are inspected in accordance with Condition Monitoring and Inspection Programme.
6) Ensuring that the preventative maintenance programme is carried out in accordance with plant PM programmes.
7) Ensuring that all emergency and technical surveys on plant and equipment are carried out in accordance with the schedule
? Reports to the Operations Manger any maintenance problem that is recurring or that is being ignored or delayed unduly.
? Works with the Maintenance Planning Engineer to ensure that outages and turnarounds are planned and executed in a safe and efficient manner.
? Ensures that records are kept for all major and/or critical pieces of equipment on the plant including records of catalyst and resin change outs, replacement and major equipment overhauls etc.
? Responsible for the Plant Attendant in the execution of his duties.
? Responsible for preparing monthly reports and loss production reports for the Manager, Operations.
? Serves as a resource to the Sr. Production Supervisors during plant start up, shut down and emergencies.
? Conducts plant meetings with designated representatives from the Process, Plant Engineering, and risk Management workgroups.
? Provides technical expertise in dealing with any abnormal situations on the Methanol Complex when on rostered call duty.
? Applies through knowledge of Distributed Controls Systems.
? Assumes the responsibility of Team Leader of the Plant Team involving all functional areas.
? Ensures that excellent standards of housekeeping are observed on the plant.
? Responsible for all Company assets and operations of the facility while on duty.
? Responsible for maintaining a consistent line of communication with all plant personnel on all matters relative to the Operating Plant and/or changes in Company Policy.
